by Ratnapura special correspondent Daham teachers in the Ratnapura district will be issued uniforms from next year. This was disclosed at a meeting of the Daham teachers held at the Divisional Secretary's Office, Ratnapura, by Minister of Small Holder Development Susantha Punchinilame. Ratnapura District Secretary Malani Premarathna presided.Minister Punchinilame said that the services rendered by Daham teachers should be appreciated. They are not paid for their service. However they perform a dedicated service sacrificing their time and energy for the sake of our children. Minister Punchinilame expressed his regret over the decline in religious activities in all religions including Buddhism. This is a very serious trend, he said. The degradation in religion will end in disaster. It is the duty of all to protect religion for the sake of our future generations, he said. Sri Padastanadipathi Venerable Panditha Handapangoda Thera, Commissioner W.D. Sunil and several others also spoke. |
