Negombo special correspondent A woman serving a prison term after being convicted of having 50 grams of heroin in her possession, escaped from Negombo prison on Tuesday. Chandrika Sashikaran, married to an Indian man, was nabbed with the heroin at the Katunayake International Airport last year, Negombo police said. She had escaped by hiding inside a barrel taken out by the lorry collecting garbage. Two female guards have been interdicted after investigations revealed their involvement in the escape. Negombo police are investigating. |
