Nepal's PM hopes SAARC summit postponement will be short KATHMANDU, Dec 9 (AFP) - Nepal Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand Monday stated there was no alternative to regional co-operation in South Asia following the postponement of the SAARC summit. Chand, speaking after the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) meeting in Islamabad was postponed, said he hoped the body would resume its work soon. "I hope the postponement of the SAARC summit will be for a short period and I hope the new date will be announced soon," Chand said. "There is no alternative to the regional cooperation in today's integrated and competitive world," he said. The SAARC, formed in 1985 is composed of Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bhutan. |
