Hakeem most suitable to lead SLMC: Member

by Kandy south group correspondent

Rauff Hakeem is the most suitable person to lead the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) and Sri Lankan Muslims. "We must strengthen his hand by supporting him which in turn will help the government's peace process", said Kandy Municipal Council member Azmin Marikkar.

Marikkar the local organiser of the SLMC at Katukelle, also said Hakeem was a man with a vision. Speaking at a rally organised by the SLMC Kandy branch in support of Hakeem at George R de Silva Park, Kandy on Thursday, he said Hakeem's actions are far-sighted and will benefit the entire community and the society.

"Muslims must support this peace process of which Rauff Hakeem is a key member. The country stands to immensely benefit from it. Muslims must be united and support the peace process,'' Marikkar said. He also dealt in detail reasons for the problem in the SLMC.

Fazlin Wahid, S. Pushpakumara and several others also spoke.
