by Manjula Fernando The Tertiary Education and Training Ministry yesterday said the Inter University Student Federation (IUSF) was trying to involve university students in their violent campaigns. A Ministry spokesman said IUSF's protest campaign in front of the Fort Railway Station on Thursday was a clear depiction of their hidden agenda to disrupt the university system. The government is taking a sincere effort to eliminate violence from universities and opinions from all factions of the society including the university community, will be considered before any changes are made, he said. The spokesman said the Ministry has cautioned parents and university students to be aware of their motives. The IUSF protest campaign was organised against the proposed changes to tighten university security. |
