by Nadira Gunatilleke The Social Services Ministry will provide Rs.1.12 million to victims of the recent tornado which ripped through Modera, Social Welfare Ministry Secretary, Viji Jegarasasingam told the ~Daily News' yesterday. About 1,500 families have been affected by the tornado will be given Rs. 500 worth kitchen essentials. Cooked meals and other relief measures will be provided. The Directress, Department of Social Services said that compensation will be paid for damaged houses by the relevant municipal councils. |
