William H. Lash III, Assistant Secretary, U.S. Department of Commerce, will visit Sri Lanka on December 19-20, the U.S. Embassy in Colombo said. The purpose of the visit is to discuss bilateral trade relations and Sri Lanka's investment climate. Lash will meet government and business leaders to explore areas of trade between Sri Lanka and the United States. His visit follows a visit by Ambassador Jon M. Huntsman Jr., Deputy U.S. Trade Representative, who was in Sri Lanka in November. Lash has served as Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Market Access and Compliance since July 2001. Prior to entering government service, he was Professor of Law at George Mason University School of Law in Virginia, where he taught international business transactions, international environmental law, regulation of foreign trade, corporate acquisitions and mergers, and corporate finance. |
