SriLankan Airlines clinch TTSC cager title

Sri Lankan Airlines continued their dominance of the Travel Trade Sports Club's events when they clinched the inaugural Travel Trade's Basketball title at the De Mazenod College Courts on Sunday.

They beat Taj Airport Garden 18/2 in the final, which was played in pelting rain, and the sponsors Taj Airport Garden Hotel provided the "sparks" eliminating two fancied teams, Maritime Travels in the league, and Walkers/Whittalls in the semis.

In a rain marred losers final, Aitken Spence Travels took third place beating Walkers/Whittalls 15/12 in a closely contested game.

Twelve matches were worked out in the league with Sri Lankan Airlines having a facile win against United Holidays 24/5, Walkers/Whittalls beating Riverina/Palm Garden 16/8, Aitken Spence Travels beat Taj Airport Garden Hotel 24/18, Maritime Travels beat Emirates 16/6, Sri Lankan Airlines beat Riverina/Palm Garden 18/4, Walkers/Whittalls beat United Holidays 10/4, Aitken Spence Travels beat Maritime Travels 20/13, Taj Airport Garden Hotel beat Emirates 15/3, Walkers/Whittalls beat Sri Lankan Airlines 14/11, Riverina/Palm Garden beat United Holidays 7/0, Aitken Spence Travels received a walk over from Emirates. In the semis Taj Airport Garden beat Walkers/Whittalls 14/11, and Sri Lankan Airlines beat Aitken Spence 23/8.
