Easy win for Kandy

by Kandy Sports Correspondent

Kandy District crushed Nuwara Eliya District by ten wickets in their BCCSL's under-14 inter-district limited over cricket tournament match played at Police grounds, Kandy yesterday. Despite play being interfered by rain but there was no stopping to Kandy District's victory. Batting first Nuwara Eliya District were dismissed for 69 off 39 overs with Chamila Randeniya scoring a defiant 41 while a number of his teammates scored 'ducks'. Left-arm spinner and skipper Sachith Pathirana 4 for 16 and medium pacer R. C. Jayatissa 4 for 9 played havoc on the Nuwara Eliya batting line up. Kandy District batting found no terrors on the wicket and hit off the 70 runs required for victory in just 6 overs to beat the rain.

Nuwara Eliya District 69 all out in 39 overs (Chamila Randeniya 41, R. C. Jayatiisa 4 for 9, Sachith Pathirana 4 for 16).

Kandy District 70 for no loss in 6 overs (M. B. Ekanayake 42 not out. H. S. Alahakoon 22 not out).
