by Sarath Malalasekera Three more students suspects were identified by 13 prosecution witnesses as those involved in the killing of third year Management Undergraduate Ovitigala Vithanage Samantha at an identification parade held by Colombo Additional Magistrate Ajith M. Masinghe. The three suspects identified yesterday were Ruwan Lasantha Desappriya, Namal Jagath Bandara and R. Dharmapriya Amerasinghe. Five more suspects will be produced before the identification parade today, Mirihana police said. Upto yesterday, 21 suspects have been identified by prosecution witnesses at identification parades held by the Gangodawila Magistrate and Additional District Judge Pradeep Hettiarachchi and Colombo Additional Magistrate Ajith M. Masinghe. Thirty-seven suspects have been produced before 19 identification parades at Gangodawila and Colombo Magistrate Courts. Forty four suspects have been remanded until the completion of the identification parade. Samantha was brutally attacked at the campus by several undergraduates on November 7. Samantha was a student who resisted ragging. Crime, Intelligence and Western Province South DIG Sirisena Herath is directing investigations conducted by Senior SP Raja Weerakoon assisted by Inspector Ajith Yapa Dhanayake, OIC, CDB, SIs H.H. Sumanaratne, S. Tillekeratne and Sergeant W.K. Wijesinghe of Mirihana Police. Suneetha Nanayakkara, Wasantha Ranasinghe, Ratna Gamage, Geetha Mandalawatte, Udeni Seneviratne and Janaka Dias are appearing for the suspects. |
