Thef:;llstop appointed distributor for Maruman of Japan

The Japanese stationery giant Maruman Corporation has appointed the Full-stop, (written as Thef:;llstop), the country's premier up-market stationery chain as sole distributor in Sri Lanka for the company's branded products, a statement from Thef:;llstop said.

Announcing the appointment, Thef:;llstop Managing Director Lai Ming Ukwatte said it would result in widening the choice available to discerning consumers of high quality stationery products, a segment of the market that is largely untapped.

"A JPY 4.5 billion company, Maruman has been dedicated to producing the finest stationery and art materials since 1920. The company's products represent decades of committed research and close attention to minute detail," she said.

"As a specialist notebook maker, Maruman is possibly unrivalled."

She said the range of Maruman products on offer initially will comprise more than 60 items, including 28 varieties of spiral bound notebooks in seven sizes, sketch books, drawing books, personal organisers, refills and accessories in a wide choice of colours and textures.

"The stationery we use often impacts on our moods and says something about our personalities, Ukwatte said.

"This is why stationery often has a special niche in our lives," she said.

One of the features of Maruman products as the use of special colours, which most stationery manufacturers avoid due to the precision printing and strict quality control they require, she said.

"Only a company driven by a commitment to quality would make that extra effort with special colours," she added.

Thef:;llstop chain comprises three outlets, at Crescat Boulevard and Olcott Mawatha in Colombo and in Kandy.

The company is also the sole distributor in Sri Lanka for several other reputed international stationery brands including Esselte of Sweden and Maped and Lefrac and Bourgeois of France.
