The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday recorded the statement of former Air Force Commander Oliver Ranasinghe for several hours in connection with the purchase of aircraft during his tenure as the Air Force Chief.

The former Air Force Chief yesterday appeared before the CID on notice. The CID commenced investigations into the purchase of aircraft following a committee report submitted to the Defence Minister Tilak Marapana. The CID will also question several others in connection with the purchase of military aircraft to the Air Force. SM
