A clean city will pave way for generations of healthy residents - Hambantota GA

The Government Agent, Hambantota district Ananda Amarathunga addressing the ceremony at the inauguration of the garbage re-cycling project at 2nd milepost Gannoruwa, Hambantota initiated by the Hambantota Urban Council recently said, that with the dawn of peace in the island and the arrival of large scale development projects to Hambantota district had drawn the attention of the international community, therefore the main town, Hambantota should have a systematic set-up to attract more and more investors to develop this region.

The garbage re-cycling project was implemented at a cost of Rs. 3.9 million with the financial assistance from the Ministry of Environment.

GA Amarathunga said, during the next few years the town will be changed totally.

A clean city with a systematic garbage disposal system would pave the way for a generation of healthy residents. Hambantota UC Chairman D.A. Gamini said, the Central Environmental Authority rendered us a helping hand to conduct this project by Hambantota Urban Council.

A sum of Rs. 3.9 million had been spent, for this garbage disposal project.

Advisor, Coast Conservation Project Claude Fernando, Leader of the Opposition, Hambantota UC Bandula Munasingha, UC member J.M. Allondeen and several others were also present.
