ACCA accessible to students of Jaffna

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is one of the oldest professional accounting bodies based in UK. It is also one of the largest and fastest growing among national accounting bodies in the world. It is truly international operating in over 160 countries with a strength of nearly 300,000 members and students. Nearly half its membership and student population is resident outside the United Kingdom said Ms Ajitha Perera Manager of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

She was addressing the principals, teachers and students of Jaffna schools at St. John's College hall, Jaffna.

S. Dhanabalan, Principal St. John's College Jaffna presided. Ms. Ajitha Perera said that the ACCA offers a wide range of qualifications including Certified Accounting Technician, the Diploma in Financial Management designed for non financial managers, Diploma in Corporate Governance, Certificate and Diplomas in International Financial Reporting and Auditing and MBA program.

As a global organisation the qualification which ACCA provides and the standard which it requires of its members are consistent the world over.

Those who successfully complete the course can find employment in any part of the world and can earn 36000 pounds an year. It is equivalent to any Honours degree of any British University.

She said that in Sri Lanka ACCA has grown substantially.

She added that she was happy to announce that to make ACCA accessible to each one of the students they would be opening an information desk at the Chamber of Commerce of Yalpanam so that the students could obtain the relevant information and application forms in Jaffna and thereafter submit them to Colombo.
