42 People's Banks schols for students

The People's Bank will award scholarships to students who have obtained excellent results at National and District Levels at the GCE (O/L) Examination held in December, 2001. This year 42 students have been selected by the bank for this scholarships program which is implemented annually to mark the bank's anniversary.

Under this program the bank will provide monthly scholarships of Rs. 1,250 each for 17 students who have obtained the highest marks at National Level and Rs. 1,000 each for 25 students who have obtained the highest marks at District Level. This allowance will be paid for 24 months. The 42 children became entitled for scholarships on the basis of the certified result sheets obtained from the Commissioner of Examinations.
