Polytex Garments limited set up in 1977 is one of the leading garment manufacturers in Sri Lanka which is a part of Esquel Group, the world's leading cotton apparel manufacture, producing five million dozens of garment and reaching US$ 500 million in revenue in 2000.

As a global textile and apparel-manufacturing conglomerate, Esquel employs a 44,000 strong multi-national workforce, and has 20 manufacturing facilities and sales offices in countries including China, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Vietnam, Japan, US, UK and France.

Abercrombie and Fith, Tommy Hilfiger, Hugo Boss, JC Penney, Nike, Polo Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers and Muji are only some of the brands and retailers supplied. With garment manufacturing facilities spanning the Asia-Pacific, in Mainland China. Malaysia Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Hong Kong, Esquel produces over five million dozens quality garments annually.

To ensure the strictest in environmental standards, Esquel has adopted an extensive range of measures in its plants, including atmospheric emission control, water pollution control, noise abatement practices and waste management measures.

Esquel is a member of the United National Global Compact initiative, and supports UNESCO's cultural heritage protection programs.

Polytex Garment Limited is the first garment factory to receive ISO 14001 Certification of Environment Managements System from the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI).
