The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) of Sri Lanka held its annual convocation at the Trans Asia Hotel last Saturday.

The ICSA Sri Lanka branch which produces quality Chartered Secretaries and Administrators has pioneered in setting up the National Task Force on Corporate Governance of Sri Lanka and its annual convocation was an important event when Sri Lanka's structure of governance is fastly experiencing a major turn with reforms and changes.

"ICSA founded in 1891 is one of the selected institutions to have been granted the Royal Charter within a short period of 11 years since being established and we are celebrating the centenary of the granting of the Royal Charter" said the Chief Guest John Ainsworth, FCIS Chief Executive and Secretary ICSA, UK. We are very happy to have 44,000 members and 28,000 students in over 70 countries, he said. The ICSA course of study is one of the best international courses and its syllabus and examination standards are very high, he said.

The good governance and effective administration of commerce and industry and public affairs are some of the key driving forces of Macro and Micro economic prosperity and stability. The Chartered Secretary qualification will provide its graduates and members effective leadership vital for efficiency and sustainability of the commercial and public enterprises they are attached to.

The ICSA qualification equivalent to an Honours Degree from a British University is recognised for enrolling for an MBA from the University of Sri Jayewardenapura or an MBA in universities in UK.
