Students handed over to parents by Jaffna special correspondent Five students of Illavalai Meihandan Vidyalayam who surrendered at the LTTE Political Wing Office at Kokuvil were detained and safely handed over to their parents as they were below 17 years of age. Their parents were summoned and they were handed over in the presence of the UNHCR Residential Representative, SLMM Jaffna District President and Local Newspaper Correspondents. Mr. Ellamparuthy, Jaffna District LTTE political wing leader who handed over the students to their parents said that they were faithfully adhering to their leaders' command not to admit boys and girls below 17 years of age. |
