by Bingiriya group correspondent Steps will be taken to develop fifty primary schools in the country representing every administrative province under the newly planned Model Primary School Development Project by the Ministry of Education, Cultural Affairs and Human Resource Development said. Director of Education C. M. Balasooriya, addressing a conference of school principals of the Bingiriya electorate recently at Bingiriya Central College. He said that under this project, ten schools from the Western Province, five schools from the Uva Province, five schools from the North Central Province, five schools from the North Western Province, five schools from the Sabaragamuwa Province, ten schools from the Southern Province and five schools from the Central Province will be developed at the first stage. He said that 400 more primary schools in the country would be developed under the second stage of this project by the Ministry. He added that initially 40.5 million rupees would be spent for this purpose and school principals have to maintain these schools properly under the guidance of a special unit of the Ministry of Education. He said that all school principals will be given a special training on computers and all facilities will be given to rural students to study with computers. |
