Centenarian

This lucky grandmother born on February 23, 1900 is 102 years old, and robust. Her eyesight and hearing are perfect. She does not use a walking stick. She is Gallen Ralalage Podinona affectionately known among the villagers as Ambuwakke Kiri Amma, and hails from the hamlet of Ambuwakke of Galigamuwa in Kegalle. Her six offspring had left for the great beyond, leaving her to catch the glimpse of her 3rd generation as well.

The secret behind her long life is nothing but the dependence on vegetarian diet. Hatred and jealousy are elements unknown to her, she said.
(Dayaratne Bandara, Kegalle district group correspondent)
