Peradeniya University Golden Jubilee do

Celebrations to mark the Golden Jubilee of Peradeniya University will continue until December 31 with events organised on different dates, a release from the Alumni Association of Peradeniya University states.

It is 50 years this year since the University of Ceylon was shifted to Peradeniya and was established as a residential university there. The university, now called the 'Peradeniya University' celebrates its golden jubilee this year. The Peradeniya University celebrated this occasion on October 6 with a simple ceremony at the university campus.

The Alumni Association of the Peradeniya University entertained students, staff and the public to a variety entertainment at the EOE Pereira Theatre at the Faculty of Engineering on October 13 to mark the occasion.

Marrs Hall alumni celebrated the golden jubilee at the Marrs Hall on November 3.

The Colombo Chapter of the Peradeniya Alumni Association will hold the Golden Jubilee Oration at the New Town Hall on November 26 at 4.30 p.m. The oration will be delivered by Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekera.

Chancellor R.K.W. Gunesekere and Vice Chancellor Prof. Kapila Gunasekera and other alumni of the university will participate.

Peradeniya graduates in and around Colombo are expected to attend this event. The Alumni Association of the Peradeniya University will also launch the issue of their affinity card on this day.
