A team of Plastic Surgeons of Inter Plasta recently visited Sri Lanka at a request made by the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Welfare P. Dayaratne. The team consisted of two Medical Specialists, one Anaesthetist, and two Nursing Officers. During the period of their stay in Sri Lanka they cured nearly 30 persons by carrying out Plastic Surgeries on them for their hereditary deformities. All the surgeries were performed in the Sri Lanka National Hospital, Colombo under the guidance of Dr. Hector Weerasinghe, Director, National Hospital, Colombo. Dr. Philip G. Slattery, the Leader of the Medical Team expressing his views said that the team performed more than 30 surgeries and all the surgeries performed proved a success. Earlier a similar Medical Team from the Inter Plasta, visited Sri Lanka in 2000 and the Organization intends to send another team in April, 2003 to perform Plastic Surgeries in Sri Lanka. He said that the Sri Lanka Medical Officers were fully coorperative with them and he wants to express his sincere thanks to those who helped in numerous ways in this task. The Medical Team was very happy that they were able to help the patients who were suffering due to various deformities in their physic and they intend to visit Sri Lanka again and provide treatment for more patients. |
