Ministry of Enterprise Development, Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion Key functions: Formulating and implementing National Industrial Policy Incorporating statutory bodies for the setting up of five economic zones encompassing the entire country For promoting economic/industrial activity within each zone Promoting and facilitationg the formulation of sector plans in collaboration with the private sector and monitoring the implementation of such plans Promoting the Export of products and services Promoting foreign direct investment According to the Government's budget estimate report, actual recurrent expenditure of the Ministry increased to Rs. 771.95 million in 2001 from Rs. 347.4 million in 2000. The estimate recurrent expenditure for 2003 has decreased to Rs. 541.67 million from Rs. 587.97 million in 2002 according to the Budget 2003. Thus, the total expenditure of the Ministry has reduced to Rs. 1.668.52million in 2003 from Rs. 2.435.95 million in 2000. |
