Seylan Bank, the only franchise holders in Sri Lanka for Visa Electron Card have introduced a new service which enables NRFC account holders to access their accounts by using the Visa Electron Card at any of the Visa accredited ATMs and Electronic Data Capture (EDC) machines globally used by vendors.

One of the unique differences between the conventional Smart Card and Visa Electron Card is that this Smart Card allows only rupee designed accounts to be accessed, whereas the new feature enables Visa Electron Card holders to access NRFC, RNNFC and RFC accounts that are linked.

A majority of the bank's NRFC account holders are residing overseas and with this facility they can access their accounts from any part of the world.

Under the new system the Electron card holder can access a foreign currency account through any of the 670,000 Visa ATMs all over the world or have access through any of the eight million merchants who have online facilities globally.

It will also satisfy several customer queries with regard to NRFC withdrawals through ATMs and also link foreign account purchases by those abroad.

This product is seen as a useful tool to enhance the bank's NRFC portfolio.

It is advantageous for the bank to enhance its NRFC portfolio through products and services of this nature, a spokesman for the Bank said.
