"The Design Master", one of the top advertising companies in Sri Lanka has been honoured by the US' top creative journals, the Creativity Annual, in its 2002 publication, "Creativity 31".

The calendars designed by 'The Design Master' for Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) and the National Insurance Corporation (NIC) for the year 2001 have been awarded distinction certificates for its creativity talents and featured them in their reputed annual magazine for the year 2002.

The highly respected journal conducts an annual creativity competition, and this year's '31st Creativity Competition', two acclaimed products were among 7,000 entries from 31 countries. It is conducted by a much recognised US advertising giant Creativity Incorporation. The magazine is published by the global books publishing giant, HarperCollins International (HBI), and is a much-looked-forward-to journal among the global ad community.

The calendar for the SLT features the frescoes of Sigiriya, the eight wonders of the world, in twelve colourful pages. The concept of the calendar draws parallels between the communications of the Sigiriya artist and the SLT - just as the Sigiriya frescoes communicate the glory of a bygone era in colour and concept, the SLT through innovation and improvement takes our communication towards new horizons. With interesting historical comments, the calendar takes the viewer through journey of Sigiriya.

The NIC calendar uses the intricate woodcarvings of the Ambekke Devale, to explain the inherent strengths of the company. NIC's meticulous drive for perfection has created timeless concepts and ideas in insurance, like the Ambekke art. Captivation photographs of the Ambekke woodcarvings fill up the six pages of the calendar with short and crisp descriptions.

According to the Creative Director W. M. K. Wijayabandara, his agency's vision is to revolutionise the art of calendar designing in Sri Lanka. The calendars created by the agency during the past few years have been acclaimed by the corporate sector for their trail-blazing creativity and clarity of communication. They also became the standard by which all calendars were judged in the market. Some of the calendars created by the "The Design Master" have also won prestigious Printers Awards in Sri Lanka.
