Director of Information retires

The Director of Information Ariya Rubasinghe, a senior officer in Class I of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service retired from the post of Director of Information on November 1 after serving as the Director of Govt. Information for over eight years.

Rubasinghe, after a distinguished service in the posts of Assistant Government Agent, Assistant Director of Social Services, Assistant Secretary Ministry of Justice, Assistant Secretary Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Sports, Secretary, Commission of Mediation Boards, has functioned in addition to the post of Director of Information as the Competent Authority and also as the Director-General (Media) and Additional Secretary in the Presidential Secretariat.

Speaking at a farewell function held in his honour at the Information Department Rubasinghe said he has, during the past eight years, particularly in connection with the military news censorship, worked as far as possible in co-operation with the media. He added that he regrets any lapses on his part and that he thanks for the co-operation extended to him by all those connected to the media.
