Interior Minister directs police to enforce curfew

Minister of Interior John Amaratunga has instructed the Police to strictly enforce the curfew enforced in certain areas in Colombo North namely Keselwatte, Maradana, Dematagoda, Maligawatte, Grandpass, Kotahena and Modera from the evening of 31st November till further notice and take into custody all violators of the curfew.

Firm legal action will be taken against all offenders. Residents of the areas have been advised to remain indoors during curfew hours except in the case of taking a seriously ill patient to hospital.

Further the Minister has appealed to the people not to fall prey to false rumours spread by certain organized groups with the aim of inciting people to create trouble. He appealed to the people to desist from spreading rumours or believing in them.
