by Godagama group correspondent "It is our paramount duty to give a helping hand to the disabled soldiers who fought to safeguard the territorial integrity of the Motherland, said Ranaviru Authority President N. S. Wickremasinghe at a ceremony held at Salawa Swarna Jayanthi Ranaviru Village to present three wheelers to disabled soldiers. Under a concessionary repayment scheme jointly sponsored by Ranaviru Authority, David Peiris Motor Company and the People's Leasing Company eight three wheelers were distributed among the disabled soldiers. Wickremasinghe said that a welfare scheme of this nature would be very much helpful to disabled soldiers, to supplement their meagre earnings, when they begin to depend solely on their pensions, after reaching 55 years. Hanwella Divisional Secretary A. Ramanayake commended the new scheme and pledged to find solutions to the outstanding problems affecting the ranaviru village. Marketing Manager, David Peiris Motor Company, Nishantha Edirisuriya also spoke. Ranaviru Authority Project Officer Mrs. Manjula Senadheera participated. |
