Agarkar replaces Zaheer for third test

MADRAS, India, Oct 20 (Reuters) - Ajit Agarkar is to replace fellow paceman Zaheer Khan in the 14-man Indian squad for the third test against West Indies in Calcutta from October 30.

Zaheer, 24, is being rested to tend to a troublesome knee in the only change made to the squad for the first two tests, Indian board secretary Karunakaran Nair said.

India clinched the three-test series 2-0 with an eight-wicket win in the second test in Madras on Sunday. "Zaheer has been advised two weeks rest to undergo active rehabilitation by doctors," Nair said.

The left-arm paceman has had trouble with his right knee since the recent test tour of England and had a scan in Madras. The injury will be reviewed in two weeks and a decision made whether to include him for the one-dayers starting on November 6.

Agarkar played in the England test series which ended last month in a 1-1 draw. He will be the third seamer alongside Javagal Srinath and left-armer Ashish Nehra. Squad:

Saurav Ganguly (captain), Sanjay Bangar, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Vangipurappu Laxman, Parthiv Patel (wk), Ajit Agarkar, Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, Javagal Srinath, Ashish Nehra, Amit Mishra, Shiv Sundar Das.
