by Kegalle special correspondent Youths' problem has been a neglected issue since 1994 and as the previous regime did not keep to its promise to take adequate steps to resolve the problem of unemployment, many other problems originated by frustrated and disgusted youths in the country, said Minister of Wayamba Development, Jayatilake Podinilame when addressing the meeting of the `Youths Organisation' of Galigomuwa Constituency of Kegalle district held at Kegalle Town Hall recently. The Minister said that the UNF government headed by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has launched a programme to work out this situation by giving the youths the necessary direction and guidance to solve their problems. In the government's agenda, priority is given to peace process and matters concerning the youths of the country. During the PA regime the only available opportunity of finding employment for the youths was to join the military and fight the war. We have brought the war and deaths to a halt, said the Minister. All developed countries in the world are convinced of the prevailing problems in our country and they are willing to give us financial and material aid for our development, he said. The Chairman of Galigamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha Ajith Uduwana and Kegalle Urban Council Chairman Jude Perera too addressed the Youths. |
