'Drug abuse, a serious threat to mankind'

"Drug abuse is becoming one of the big problems in our country. It is now a national problem and can harm other people too. It is a serious threat to the health, safety and wellbeing of mankind. It affects not only the users but also the community.

Proper education and inculcating high ideals to youth will help them get rid of this evil habit", said H.M. Sirisena Herath, DIG, Western Province-south when delivering a keynote address on `elimination of crimes and drugs at a workshop held at the Vijaya Kumaratunga commemoration Hall at Wadduwa. Venerable Wadduwa Dhamenawansa thera, the Chief incumbent of Sri Lanka Ramaya, Wadduwa and the registrar of Sasanaraksaka Mandalaya, Panadura administered pansil.

Kithsiri Dayananda, S.P, Panadura Division, Sanjeewa Dharmaratna, ASP, Bandaragama and Wadduwa Divisions, Deshabandu Dr. Victor Hettigoda and A.M.M. Ambros, Chairman, Panadura Pradeshiya Sabha also spoke.

Lalith Abeysekara O.I.C, Wadduwa delivered the welcome speech and D.P.L.C. Perera, Secretary, Panadura Divisional Secretariat presented the vote of thanks.
