International cricket stadium for Pallekelle by D. Oliver Silva, Sarath Samaranayake and Indika Polkotuwa Sports Minister, Johnston Fernando and Plantation Industries Minister, Lakshman Kiriella laid the foundation stone for the Sarara International Cricket Stadium and Sports Complex to be built at Pallekelle, Kandy next to the Pallekelle Industrial Park as a BoI Project which will cost Rs. 500 million. The project is aimed to be completed within a year. The investors Sarara International Cricket Association expects to complete the complex with all the facilities available at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. As the Colombo-Pallekele highway via Kandy will run close to the new stadium, foreign cricket fans would be benefitted much and it would result in the vast popularity of matches played at Pallekele, said BoI Chairman, Arjuna Mahendra participating in the ceremony. UNP Chairman, Malik Samarawickrema, MPs Chitra Manthilaka, Thilina Tennekone, Central Province Chief Minister, W. M. P. B. Dissanayake, Cricket Board President, Hemaka Amarasuriya, Sukre Salei of Sarara International Cricket Association too participated. |
