The Managing Director of Empire Teas Pvt Limited produced in court for an alleged fraudulent transaction was granted personal bail in Rs. 200,000 by Negombo Magistrate and Additional District Judge Mohan Bhuran.

The Judge also directed him to appeal in court on January 22, 2003.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) took Lushantha de Silva, Managing Director of Empire Teas Pvt Limited.

HVA Lanka complained to the CID alleging fraudulent transactions pertaining to tea sales carried out by De Silva, when he was a Shareholder-Director of the HVA Lanka company.
