The Mahaweli Wap Magula will be held under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today and tomorrow at the Dimbulagala Mahaulpotha paddy field at the Mahaweli System B. Minister of Power and Energy Karu Jayasuriya, Minister of Irrigation and Water Management Gamini Jayawickrema Perera, Minister of Agriculture, Samurdhi and Livestock S.B. Dissanayake, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs A.H.M. Azwer, Minister of Irrigation H.G.P. Nelson, Minister of Water Management Lakshman Seneviratne, Deputy Minister of Irrigation and Water Management P. Chandrasekeran and Opposition Parliamentary Members of the District will participate. Sinhalese, Tamil and Muslim farmers from all districts will also participate. A special feature will be the participation of farmers from Mannar, Batticaloa, Trincomalee and Ampara districts. The Ministry of Irrigation and Water Management and Agriculture, Lands and Environment will jointly participate in the Wap Magul ceremony organised by the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Management under the guidance of Minister Gamini Jayewickrama Perera. The ceremonies will commence today at 9 pm with the Dewol Maduwa at the Mahaulpotha paddy field Dimbulagala. The Wap Magul ceremony will be held tomorrow morning. Sirasa will telecast and broadcast live commentaries from the Mahaulpotha paddy field today and tomorrow. |
