Teachers withdraw transfer demand

The 108 teachers of Gampaha Bandaranayake Vidyalaya, have unanimously withdrawn their demand for transfer, an education Ministry media release said. They demanded their transfer if the college principal's transfer is not cancelled.

In a letter signed by the teachers and addressed to the Ministry, the teachers have thanked the authorities for their impartial inquiry into the incident of some students attacking Thaksila Vidyalaya, Gampaha on September 23.

They also expressed confidence that the situation at the school following the incident would return to normal soon, the release said.The committee appointed to inquire into the incident of unruly behaviour of some students, recommended the principal's transfer to the Western Province Education Office with immediate effect.

The teachers protested against the transfer and demanded their transfer if the Principal's transfer could not be cancelled.
