Thilina and Deepika table tennis champions

Thilina Piyadasa of Sri Jayawardenapura University and Deepika Rodrigo of Lake House Sports Club once again proved that they are still the best paddlers in Sri Lanka by winning the men's and women's singles titles at the Central Province Open TT Championship concluded at the Peradeniya University Gymnasium over the weekend. This open ranking tournament was organised by the Sri Lanka TTA and conducted by the CPTTA.

Top seeded Thilina beat his long time rival Indika Prasad of Abans Ltd in straight sets in the men's finals to win the men's singles crown while Deepika also the top seed in women's event overcoming her young opponent Kalpani Herath of GHS Kandy 4-1 in the women's singles final.

However Kalpani had the satisfaction of winning three titles when she became champions in the Under-15 and 17 singles event and women's open Doubles event partnering Upeka Kotinkaduwa.

Sukitha Wickramanayake of Dharmaraja College, Kandy also provided that he will be a future star by winning the boys under 11 and 13 titles.
