Parliament intruder remanded till Oct 24

The Welikada Police is investigating into an incident at the Parliament Complex where a young girl had tried to gain entry to the Parliament without proper accreditation yesterday morning.

Investigations revealed that the suspect had an identity card of a electronic media. But she was not an employee of that organisation Chief Inspector R.L. Chandrasiri OIC, Welikda Police said. Questioned at length by the police she had revealed that she was a student attached to the Kelaniya University and living in Dikwella, Matara. Investigations are on to ascertain whether the girl had been deployed by a political organisation to obtain information regarding the Parliament affairs.

The suspect girl was produced before the Colombo Additional Magistrate J.R Dissanayake and remanded till October 24.
