Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is scheduled to meet President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga today to brief her on the outcome of the Thailand peace talks. The premier will be accompanied to the meeting by Economic Reforms and Science and Technology Minister Milinda Moragoda who was a government delegate at the Sattahip preliminary round talks. The meeting which is fixed for 9 am at President's House comes in the wake of a call made on the President earlier this week by Minister Moragoda who briefed her on the first round talks. A decision was reached at this meeting to review the peace process at regular joint meetings between the President, the Premier and their nominees. Describing the meeting with Moragoda earlier the President said "It was the most comprehensive briefing in the past nine months". Accordingly, Premier Wickremesinghe has decided to have regular meetings with the President at the conclusion of each stage of the talks where the President will be apprised on their outcome. |
