AEP express disgust on transfers

The Association of Education Professionals (AEP) has expressed their disgust over the Education Ministry action to transfer Principal of the Bandaranayake Vidyalaya, Gampaha over an act of indiscipline by students.

In a statement yesterday, the AEP said maintaining discipline among students had become a great strain for teachers and principals since civil society, which the children look upon as a model, full of violence.

"In a country where children see Members of Parliament tear at each other openly during sessions and hear threats openly and publicly over the media by certain politicians, how can we expect children to be properly disciplined?" the AEP asked.

They said these have to be taken into consideration before a final decision is taken on the Bandaranayake Vidyalaya incident.
