Govt universities will not be privatised- Kabeer Hasheem

Government universities will not be privatized at any cost said the Minister of Tertiary Education and Training, Kabeer Hasheem.

He said that the government intended to introduce new courses for all universities which are supporting the modern technological needs.

The Minister was addressing at the annual prize giving of St. Joseph's Balika Maha Vidyalaya, Kegalla which was held at the school auditorium recently.

He also added these new educational projects will cost about 50 million US dollars.

Minister Hasheem also said that the most valuable weapon for the child is education and therefore it is our duty to strengthen our children with it.

He said that Lord Buddha, whom he believes is the greatest educationist of all time has also showed us the importance of a proper education.

Minister of North-West Development Jayatilaka Podinilame and Kegalla UC Chairman Jude Rukantha Perera, were also present.
