Minister Thondaman's bid to solve estate workers problems

Minister of Housing and Plantation Infrastructure Arumugam Thondaman and General Secretary of Ceylon Worker's Congress, has taken many steps in solving the current burning problems of Estate Staff in the entire Island and to attend the various problems of the Staff on estate.

He has appointed S. P. N. Muruganathan, as Vice President, Financial Secretary and National Organiser of the Plantations Staff congress. Many important issues of the Estate Staff have been brought to the notice of the Minister for immediate remedy.

Under the purview of the Ministry of Housing and Plantation Infrastructure, more than 17 institutions are operating for benefit of the masses.

In this context, Muruganathan said the staff of estates are the backbone of the economy of the country and they work from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
