Gale cause havoc in Vavuniya

A thunder storm yesterday caused heavy damage to the Vavuniya Town an estimated Rs. 1.5 million alone to the Vavuniya Urban Council office, provincial sources said.

Some roads were blocked and a many buildings were damaged with trees fallen by the mini cyclone which blew yesterday afternoon.

Telephone connections were disrupted and a many vehicles were damaged. Meterological Department sources said last evening that heavy windy conditions were also expected in Girandurukotte and Polonnaruwa.
