GMOA wants police protection in Kalutara

The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) yesterday requested police to provide security to medical officers of the Kalutara General Hospital after a doctor received death threats.

The GMOA in a letter addressed to the Deputy Inspector General of Police said, that a public relation secretary of a minister had abused and threatened Dr. Yoga Senaratne, GMOA's branch Union Secretary if he continues to protest against Dr. Waduge, the recently appointed administrator to the General Hospital.

Doctors striked several times over the past one month protesting against the appointment of Dr. Nanda Waduge as the Hospital's Deputy Director.

Doctors demanded health authorities to re-advertise the post and conduct fresh interviews to appoint a suitable candidate.
