Four killed in bus accident

Three passengers including one woman and the conductor were killed and 46 passengers were wounded in a bus accident at Mangalaeliya on the Colombo-Puttalam road yesterday.

The Colombo-Vavuniya bus carrying 75 passengers skidded off the road and crashed in to a large tree. The injured were admitted to Chilaw, Puttalam and Mundalam hospitals.

The driver has apparently fallen asleep while driving, police said. The OIC of Mundalam police Ajith Wickramasinghe is conducting investigations.
