New Danzas' multinational gateway in Sri Lanka Danzas, one of the world's leading providers of IT-supported logistics solutions, announces Sri Lanka as its new multinational gateway (MNG) for South Asia. There are five MNGs in Singapore, Hong Kong, Bremen (Germany), Antwerp (Netherlands) and Gothenburg (Sweden). The MNG is a concept where Danzas consolidates less-than-container-load (LCL) shipments from a number of shippers at a centrally located origin. This allows Danzas to gain full control of customers' cargoes using its own handling system, as compared to the traditional way of co-sharing cargoes with other carriers where there is a higher mishandling risk. Capital AEI International, Danzas' agent in Sri Lanka, has been appointed to operate the MNG. The agent has been in partnership with Danzas since year 2000. A new Container Freight Station (CFS) warehousing facility has also been set up near the Port of Colombo to consolidate and handle transhipment cargoes covering South Asia, Europe, North America and Asia routes and to fully optimise operations. The new service has a wider network connection to 10 origins including India, Pakistan and Bangladesh to Colombo, and it provides a fixed weekly sailing to 26 European destinations at a shorter transit time. |
