Scurrilous e-mail campaign against Lanka Bell

Lanka Bell, one of the leading WLL operators has been subjected to a scurrilous e-mail campaign just days prior to the launch of the Company's own Internet service, a press release from Lanka Bell said. The e-mail, which is currently being sent out to a number of local Corporates and business subscribers, is of a malicious nature and is purported to be sent by Lanka Bell.

Lanka Bell strongly denies the company having anything to do with this and said it was a malicious attempt to cast a slur on the company just days prior to launching of Lanka Bell's own Internet service. Lanka Bell is preparing to launch its Internet service on September 25, and would go on undeterred despite the attempts to sabotage their plans.

This only shows the potential threat of Lanka Bell's superior Internet service offerings, which will begin to have a major impact on its competitors, the release said.
