Eagle offers CarProtect plan

Eagle Insurance Company's latest product is CarProtect, a comprehensive car insurance plan with several novel features including a 24-hour Help hotline which helps one to get in touch with the Company no sooner an accident occurs.

The CarProtect Plan covers a whole gamut of benefits. It covers damage to your car caused by accidents, fire and lightning, external explosion, self-ignition, theft and burglary. Cover is even provided for damage due to malicious acts. Death or bodily injuries as well as damage to property belonging to third parties are also covered.

Explaining the facility of the 24-hour Help hotline, an Eagle spokesman said that it will ensure the speedy settlement of claims once an accident occurs. "The moment a call is given to Eagle to inform us of the accident, whether it's day or night, we will straightaway start working on the formalities such as getting the paperwork organised so that the claims will be settled with the least possible delay", he said.

Another unique feature of the CarProtect plan is the reimbursement of taxi fare during the period the car is in the garage for repairs after an accident. A claim can be made up to a maximum of Rs. 7,500 per year. If the passengers are hospitalised after an accident, a payment of up to Rs. 1,500 a day will be paid up to seven days for each such passenger. This sum will be doubled if the passenger is admitted to the ICU. The Eagle spokesman said that the Company will offer favourable terms with regard to 'no claim bonus', in accordance with the recently revised pricing structure of the company. In the new system, the "no claim bonus percentage" can go up to 65% over the years, which is much higher than the previous practice. "That's not all.

Provision is made to offer a reduced 'no claim bonus' even after a claim has been made for an accident, if the customer has earned "no claim bonus" for over five years.

The spokesman said that a series of optional benefits are also offered for an extra premium. Under these options, one can insure the car against damage caused by riot and strike, civil commotion, terrorism or flood.

Breakage of windscreens and shutters even without an accident will be compensated for, without affecting the 'no claim bonus'. Protection for all passengers can be obtained with the CarProtect Personal Accident Cover, he said. In developing the CarProtect plan, Eagle Insurance obtained the technical expertise of Zurich Financial Services of which Eagle is a member.

The Zurich Financial Services Group, is a global leader in financial services, serving over 38 million customers and employing over 70,000 people in over 60 countries.
