Harshani and Yohan clinch a double each

Harshani Perera of Sirimavo Bandaranayake BMV and Yohan Prabodha of D. S. Senanayake College clinched a double each at the Colombo District inaugural novices table tennis championships conducted by the Colombo District

Table Tennis Association and worked off at S. Thomas' College indoor stadium, Mount Lavinia. Harshani Perera won the girls under 13 singles title defeating Sanduni Warnasuriya of Visakha 11-8, 11-4, 11-6. She also went on to win the girls under 17 singles title overcoming Dilani Nadeeshani of Samuddradevi BMV Nugegoda 11-8, 9-11, 11-9, 11-4. In the boys under 17 singles final Yohan Prabodha of D. S. Senanayake beat his schoolmate Lahiru Madushan 11-4, 11-8, 11-3. He then beat Dashan Pathirana of Isipatana 11-3, 6-11, 11-4, 9-11, 11-2. In the under 15 girls singles Linda Susen Anderson of Samuddradevi BMV had the better of Thiloma Madushani of Devi Balika 11-8, 11-7, 11-5. In the boys under 13 singles final Samitha Abeyratne of Royal defeated Sameera Wijesinghe of D. S. Senanayake 11-8, 11-5, 9-11, 8-11, 11-8.

Kasun Gimhana of Royal won the boys under 11 singles title overcoming Dilantha Priyadarshana of St. John's College Nugegoda 11-3, 9-11, 11-4, 11-5. In the girls under 11 singles final Shalika Dilini of Samuddradevi BMV Nugegoda beat Angela Marianne of St. Joseph's Girls School Nugegoda 11-4, 11-8, 11-9. Thusitha Prasanga of Isipatana and Kavindya Lakshani of Anula Vidyalaya took the boys and girls under 9 singles title respectively. Prasanga beat Samitha Ransaka 13-11, 10-12, 11-5 and Lakshani beat N. Jayamali of Samuddradevi BMV 11-3, 11-5. In the boys under 7 singles Rashad Lathiff of Royal beat his teammate Mihidura Osura 11-3, 11-4. In the girls under 7 singles final Ashika Rukshani of St. Clares College beat Paboda Malishi of Sirimavo Bandaranayake BMV 11-7, 11-6.

The President of the Western Province Table Tennis Association Aruna Samarasinghe was the chief guest and distributed the awards along with Chandana Perera secretary of the Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka.
