Pakistan 'A' strongly placed Pakistan 'A', in reply to Sri Lanka 'A's first innings total of 183 all out, were strongly placed at 149 for 2 when rain and bad light stopped play during the post lunch session on the second day of their first unofficial cricket Test continued at the Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad yesterday. Resuming at their overnight total of 32 for no loss, Pakistan 'A' lost opener Imran Farhat for 19 with the total on 48. But opener Taufeeq Umar (68 n.o off 150 balls with eight boundaries) and one drop bat Faisal Iqbal (54 off 133 balls with one six and four boundaries) added 101 runs for the second wicket before the latter was caught by Marlon Vandort off W.R.J. de Silva. The match was called off for the day as rain and wet ground conditions brought a premature end to the second day's play, immediately after the fall of Iqbal's wicket. Earlier, Sri Lanka 'A' made 183 all out on day one, after electing to bat first. SRI LANKA 'A' - 1ST INNINGS (183 all out - Avishka Gunawardena 60, Marlon Vandort 28, Jehan Mubarak 17, Tilan Samaraweera 23, Jeevan Mendis 24 n,o, Navid-ul Hasan 4 for 49, Danish Kaneria 5 for 43). PAKISTAN 'A' - 1ST INNINGS (149 for 2 at stumps - Imran Farhat 19, Taufeeq Umar 68 n.o, M. K. G. C. P. Laksitha 1 for 21, W. R. J. de Silva 1 for 37). (D.W.) |
