Seven Indian cricketers return home Seven Indian cricketers playing in the on-going ICC Champions trophy tournament were given permission to return home and return before India's next match against England on September 22. The seven players who comprise skipper Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, V. V. S. Lakshman, Ashish Nehra, Virender Sehwag and Ajith Agarkar left for India on Sunday, most of them to be with their families. India has been on the road since April touring the Caribbean and then England before coming to Sri Lanka for the Champions trophy and, the players hardly had time to return to their homes in the various states. India played their first match of the Champions trophy against Zimbabwe on September 14 which they won by a margin of 14 runs. They have a gap of eight days before their next game. The players have been given permission by the Indian Cricket Board and the ICC to return home. - [S.T.] |
